Allied Healthcare marks International Nurses Day

Posted about 2 years ago

International Nurses’ Day is celebrated around the world every year to pay tribute to nurses for all their hard work and contributions. The day falls on the 12th of May – the birthday of Florence Nightingale.

Florence Nightingale is considered to be the founder of modern nursing and on 12th May 1965 the International Council of Nurses (ICN) declared the day officially International Nurses Day.

A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare”

To celebrate nurses around the world, ICN prepares and distributes an International Nurses’ Day Kit full of educational materials and information to be used by nurses everywhere. This year’s theme is “A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare”.

The aim of this year’s day is to show how nursing will look into the future as well how the profession will transform the next stage of healthcare. We sat down with our nurses to make this theme a reality and find out what is their vision for future healthcare and how they have showed innovation in their role to shape the future.

Allied Healthcare’s vision for future care

Here at Allied Healthcare, we believe it is important to adopt innovative practices to ensure we provide a safe and effective service for those we support.

During the past 12 months, our nursing team has used digital platforms and technology to educate and develop our care teams in the community, so they feel empowered to continue to upskill and provide high quality care.

Using technology has also helped our nurses to build relationships with their colleagues from different locations across England, Scotland and Wales, something that they wouldn’t be able to achieve without the technology and systems in place.

As an organisation we believe technology will play a vital part in shaping our nursing practices and healthcare and we will continue to look at innovative ways to nurture and develop our workforce.
