What will the Recruitment Process Involve?

At Allied we pride ourselves on the thoroughness of our Recruitment Policy which ensures that the right candidate ends up with the job that best suits them. Through this we believe we not only provide the highest quality of service to you, but the people you will go onto support/care for. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome all applications. On receipt of your application you can expect to go through the following recruitment process:

  1. Your initial interest in a position/work placement with Allied Healthcare Group will be acknowledged by a member of our recruitment team. This acknowledgement will usually follow the same mechanism by which you made contact with us i.e.
    - By Phone
    - By Email
    - By Fax
    - By Post
    - In Person
  2. Following this initial contact, a member of Allied Healthcare Group’s branch recruitment team will re-contact you. This contact is likely to be in the form of a telephone call during which a brief telephone screening will take place. This involves you being asked a straightforward list of questions relating to your availability, qualifications/ previous experience, current work status and type of work you are looking for, and is likely to take no more than 10 minutes.
  3. Following the outcome of your telephone screening, your application will then either be progressed to the next stage or declined (depending on your suitability for the work available and our ability to match your requirements).
  4. For those progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process, you will be invited to meet with a member of the branch team in person (at a mutually convenient time and location). Confirmation will be then be given to you by email or post (where time allows), and a letter detailing the time and location of your appointment (plus a map of how to find us along with some items you will need to bring to your interview) provided.
NB: In the event that an interview is arranged within 24 hours of your initial telephone screening, confirmation details relating to your interview will be provided verbally.
  5. At your interview appointment you will be asked to complete an application form (detailing information that includes your qualifications / previous experience, including 10 years employment history, your personal details etc). In addition, if you do not hold a current “enhanced” CRB disclosure, you will be asked to complete a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure (CRB). This form is a mandatory requirement for all staff working in the healthcare sector. (NB: During this time, branch Staff will be on hand to assist you with any areas of the application form /CRB form that you are unsure about).
Following completion of the application and CRB form an interview will then take place with a trained recruitment professional/qualified RGN.
You should allow approximately 45 minutes for this appointment
  6. On successful completion of the application process, Allied Healthcare Group will follow up the references you will have provided (in your application form), pin checks (if applicable), send off your CRB form for clearance* and book you on any required training. Common Induction Standards Training Course, plus any additional training you may need.
  7. Once all required documentation has come back to us “clear” and “confirmed” you will be classified as “compliant” and be booked straight into your first shift. – Compliant to link into are you compliant information.
    * On average Criminal Record Bureau Checks/ Disclosure Scotland Checks take approximately 4-6 weeks to be processed, cleared and returned to AHG

All new candidates will be put through the above recruitment process. For all specialist workers we ensure that they are assessed for competencies by a suitably trained Branch Coordinator with experience in the field of work that the candidate is applying for. Where this is not possible, we have Regional RGNs and Continuing Health Care Teams who are able to aid in the recruitment process of specialist workers.
